Family medicine physician, M. Joyce Starling, MD, comes from a long line of Henderson residents and helping people of the area runs deep in her roots. “Both sides of my family have been around here since the mid-1800s. We were brought up to believe that the more good you do for others, the more good comes back to you.”
Though she served as an emergency room physician while her children were growing up, Dr. Starling decided to shift back to her first love, family medicine. “Primary care is my main love. I enjoy the continuity of care that comes with following my patients. I’m more involved in preventive care and helping people stay healthy.”
In addition to caring for people at UT Health East Texas Physicians Henderson, Dr. Starling has volunteered for a variety of medical committees and community organizations.
Dr. Starling received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the Texas Woman’s University in Denton and doctor of medicine from The University of Texas Health Science Center.
